Ocean Drifters #7
Ocean Drifters #7
Glass Bead pendant featuring “Ocean Drifters” floating in cobalt water.
This necklace is part of the growing Sea Fantasy Collection of jewelry inspired by the Monterey Bay Aquarium that I live near. The Jellies exhibit is my favorite.
I created the lampwork glass bead using silver enriched glass rods and murrini cane from Double Helix Glass. The silver content creates the colorful light reflecting shine and opalescence. The murrini that became the jellies have a layer of clear glass applied over them that isn’t fully melted flat. This slightly raised lens creates additional depth and interest.
The silver tube lining is riveted in place and provides a finished setting for the bead.
This pebble shaped bead is 22mm x 20 x 9mm not including silver setting.
Pendant is 34mm from top of bail to the bottom.
The top quality, made in Italy, silver foxtail chain with a lobster clasp is 18” long.
