‘Here Comes the Sun’ – Brooch
This piece was inspired by the exhibit theme “Emerge” and what it means to me as we begin to move out of the darkness of our recent isolation.
For this homage to the painter Mark Rothko, I used layers of 24k gold foil and gold leaf fused on fine silver in the keum-boo technique. The dark indigo patina creates a strong contrast and a frame for the bright gold. My daughter remarked that it looks like the sun coming up… thus the title.
